Omar Uddin

Omar Uddin is the founder and principal of Uddin Development Consulting (UDC), a Detroit-based firm providing development advisory services to real estate developers, CDFIs, and industry partners nationwide.

Omar began his career at an affordable housing nonprofit in Ann Arbor, MI before moving on to underwrite acquisition deals for a publicly-traded, multi-billion dollar real estate investment trust (REIT).

Since founding UDC in 2022, Omar has assisted clients across 12 states and Washington, D.C., supporting projects with over $460M in potential development. His work spans emerging developers, CDFIs, and nonprofit partners on projects ranging from LIHTC affordable housing to mixed-use and commercial development. He has delivered technical seminars for community development organizations and a national development finance organization, and volunteers as Vice President of the Ann Arbor Community Land Trust and on the board of Equitable Ann Arbor (EA2) Land Trust.

Omar founded UDC with a commitment to integrity, conscientiousness, and effective communication, values that guide every client engagement and reflect his belief that expert development advisory should be accessible to developers who need it most.

Omar is a graduate of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Stephen Barcus

Construction and Closing Advisor

Stephen Barcus has over 20 years of experience in community real estate development. He has managed the national construction services team at Capital Impact Partners, served as Senior Advisor of Neighborhood Economic Development at the City of Detroit Mayor's Office, and worked as a Project Manager at a minority-owned general contractor. He currently serves as Director of Real Estate Development at Lighthouse of Michigan, a statewide social services nonprofit.

Starting as a tradesperson in underserved neighborhoods, Stephen built expertise spanning civil and structural engineering, owner's representation, federal tax credits, construction accounting, asset valuation, insurance and bonding, and quality and draw inspections.

He holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering (Wayne State) and professional certifications including Project Management Professional (from PMI), Certified Construction Risk Specialist (from IRMI), and Certified Commercial Property Inspector (from CCPIA).
